A History of Ruby Construction
Owen Sechrist is the President and founder of Ruby Construction LLC.
He was formerly a Lancaster area chef and partner in the Belvedere Inn
in downtown Lancaster. After leaving the restaurant business he pursued
a career in building, starting at the bottom rung of a custom home builder
in Berks Co. Building custom homes for a small builder guarantees
exposure to every aspect and facet of the residential construction process.
From there Owen opened his business under the name Sechrist Remodeling
and began doing remodeling work for Lancaster County homeowners as well
as subcontracting for several area companies doing trim carpentry, running
remodeling projects, running commercial projects and other project management services.
Ruby Construction LLC, named after Owen's daughter, was born out of Owen's desire to focus solely on the gratifying work of performing high quality residential and small business construction services directly for the home
owner or business owner client.
"As a kid I remember my dad telling me that if something is worth doing,
it is worth doing right. When I was 8 years old my parents started
remodeling an old paint store to open their first restaurant. I did
two things at 8 years old that have defined the rest of my life: restaurant
work and construction work, I've done both at different times ever since.
I remember using a hammer and flat bar to demo a brick wall at that age,
as well as being reprimanded by a customer for licking some ice-cream from
my finger after dipping her a cone."
